Managing my busy household can be chaotic, especially when you add a furry family member like Zorro, our beloved Dalmatian, into the mix. Between juggling kids, a job, and a dog with a taste for the finer things in life, I needed a way to streamline our finances. That’s when I discovered a little-known trick that’s been a game-changer: adding Zorro’s dog sitter as a Companion on our family bank account.

Giving Zorro’s Sitter Her Own Card

Zorro’s dog sitter is amazing, but managing the expenses for his care—everything from dog treat to dog food. Instead of handing over cash or my card every time, I decided to try something new. I added her as a Companion on our family bank account, which basically means she gets her own card with a budget my partner and I control.

This was a win for both of us. She gets the freedom to take care of Zorro without needing to check in with me constantly, and I get the peace of mind knowing exactly what’s being spent. I’ve set daily and monthly limits on her card, so I never have to worry about blowing the budget.

Tracking Zorro’s Expenses Separately

One of my favorite features? The ability to categorize spending with Card categories with Zeta+. I created a specific category just for Zorro’s expenses. This means I can easily see how much we’re spending on his food, grooming, and the occasional (okay, frequent) treat. It’s all neatly organized, so I’m not scrambling to figure out where our money is going at the end of the month.

Why This Works for Our Family

Honestly, this small change has made a big difference. Zorro’s sitter has what she needs to take care of him, and I’ve got a clear view of our finances without any extra hassle. It’s made managing our household expenses a lot easier, especially when it comes to making sure Zorro gets the best care without breaking the bank.

If you’re managing a busy household like ours, adding your dog sitter (or any other helper) as a Companion on your family bank account might just be the hack you need. It’s a simple way to keep everyone on track—and to keep Zorro happy, which is a top priority in our house.
